The Clarence Brown Theatre Professional Company presents its 1999 holiday

presentation: An O. Henry Christmas. Performances will be held in the Ula

Love Doughty Carousel Theatre Dec. 2 through Dec. 18.

Based on favorite O. Henry short stories, author Howard Burman's adaptation

definitely delivers, with his own surprising O. Henry-esque ending. The

familiar material is presented with dramatic flair and hearty compassion.

It is warmhearted holiday fare for the whole family.

The holiday spirit stirs when street dwellers become storytellers on this

chilly Christmas Eve. Viewers are introduced to a lively group of vagrants,

who meet a shadowy figure calling himself O.P. Their new friend diverts

them from a lonely, frosty Christmas Eve by encouraging them to act out his

own storiesadaptations of O. Henry favorites.

The cast includes CBT Professional Company member John Forrest Ferguson as

O.P., Linda Libby as Agnes, Michelle Torres as Fran, John Woodworth as

Grover, Gabriel S. Maxon as Dinty, James Marvel as Hal and Jennefer Rives

as Marguerite. The production is directed by UT MFA candidate Nancy

Prebilich.

The show opens tonight at 8 p.m. Showtimes are Tuesday through Sunday at 8

p.m. with matinee performances on Dec. 12 and 18. No performances will be

held Sunday, Dec. 5.

Ticket prices are $18 for adults and $9 for children for weekday and

matinee performances, and $21 for adults and $12 for children for Friday

and Saturday night shows. Ticket prices for full-time UT students are only

$5.

In partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank, a discount of $2 off each

adult ticket will be given for every three cans of donated non-perishable

food items. Requested food items include peanut butter, tuna fish and

macaroni and cheese.
