Come celebrate football season with the sights and sounds of the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Marching Band. The entire 350-member band will be performing a free concert in the World's Fair Park Amphitheater tonight at 8:00 p.m.
Kick off the season in style, listening to old tunes and new favorites. Plus, enjoy a sneak peek at what the band has in store for this year.
Jeremy Lamberth, a senior member of the band, said, It is a great opportunity for fans to come out and get pumped up for the upcoming football season.
Big Orange fans can look forward to hearing Pregame, Tennessee Waltz and, of course, Rocky Top. The band will also perform new cheers for the football season as well as songs from their half-time shows. The performance will feature visuals provided by the UT Color Guard and UT Majorettes.
The Pride is consistently ranked as one of the nation's premiere marching bands.
Associate Director of Bands, Dr. Donald Ryder noted the importance of the band.
It is one of the most recognized traditional program in football history, Ryder said. It is hard to imagine a football game in Neyland Stadium without the Pride of the Southland Band.
