Interviews with four finalists for associate vice chancellor for academic
affairs will begin Aug. 16 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville,
officials said Monday.
The individual chosen for the post will also serve as dean of undergraduate
academic affairs. He or she will have responsibility for undergraduate
curricula, academic services, the Learning Research Center, the University
Honors program, University Studies, and Recorder of Curriculum.
The candidates and times of their interviews are:
* Linda Maxson, Ph.D., professor and head of biology at Penn State
University, 1:45 p.m., Aug. 24, and 11 a.m., Aug. 25, 605 Hodges
* Miriam Shillingsburg, Ph.D., associate vice president for academic
affairs and professor of English at Mississippi State University, 1:45
p.m., Aug. 29, Hodges auditorium, and 11 a.m., Aug. 30, University Center
* Robert Arkin, Ph.D., undergraduate dean of arts and sciences and
professor of social psychology at Ohio State University, 1:45 p.m., Aug.
31, 605 Hodges, and 11 a.m., Sept. 1, Shiloh Room.
* Tony Atwater, Ph.D., professor and chair of journalism and mass
media at Rutgers University, 1:45 p.m., Sept. 6, and 11 a.m., Sept. 7. Both
sessions will be in Hodges Library Auditorium.
Dean of Libraries Paula Kaufman, who is chairing the search advisory
committee for the position, said faculty, staff and students are encouraged
to attend the sessions.
