Web surfers are seeing something different in the online edition of The

Daily Beacon
, thanks to a recent redesign of the site.

In addition to a total site facelift, the paper, which is published Monday

through Friday, is also moving to a new location. The new address is

http://dailybeacon.utk.edu.

"We have rearranged things, added new features and beefed up current

features to make the site easier to navigate and more useful to our

readers," said Steven Kot, the online-editor and designer of the new

Daily Beacon Web site.

The new front page will provide easy access to today's news and to recent

issues. The site has also updated its weather services to provide readers

with current conditions and a five-day outlook.

Among other new features, the site now offers a subscription feature, which

allows readers to receive Daily Beacon News, Headlines and Cartoons

through e-mail as soon as they are available.

"The Internet is the future, especially in media, and we are joining the

commercial newspaper world by offering an online edition," said Andy

Fleenor, editor of The Daily Beacon .

The site will also now offer online classifieds, which offers readers the

ability to browse through the classified ads that appear in our print

edition. Readers will also be able to submit advertisements via the

web.

The site will continue to offer a complete list of other colleges and

universities with student publications on the web and links to university

and community sites of interest.
