One of the foremost problems surrounding college campuses nationwide is

alcohol abuse. This week, a few student groups at UT are taking an active

stance against this problem by offering several solutions to prevent

it.

Beginning at 10 a.m. today, GAMMA, Greeks Advocating the Mature Management

of Alcohol, will sponsor an educational fair on the UC Plaza dealing with

alcohol-related issues. The program will last until 2 p.m. and will feature

several areas of interest for students to check out.

There will be plenty of free food and material to entice students to

participate in the event, including popcorn, cokes, snow cones and other

prizes. The UTPD will also have DUI goggles on hand to simulate the visual

imparity caused by alcohol abuse.

On Tuesday, the Panhellenic Council will sponsor former Mississippi Highway

Patrolman Capt. Pete Collins. Collins will share his experiences with young

adults and alcohol in his presentation of "Where Safety Becomes

Personal."
