It seems some students don't need much of a reason to party, which makes

October the perfect party month.

The Great Southern Brewing Company, located at 424 S. Gay St., is throwing

an all-day party to celebrate Oktoberfest this Saturday, Oct. 16, from 2

p.m. to midnight.

Festivities will take place outside on the promenade behind the Great

Southern. Advance tickets for the event are $7.50 or $10 on the day of the

event, with all proceeds benefiting the Knoxville Zoo.

The Great Southern Oktoberfest will feature 18 beers handcrafted specially

for the Oktoberfest by Great Southern brew master Bob Krusen.

Commemorative Oktoberfest pint glasses will be sold with the first pint

free and $1.50 refills thereafter.

In addition to the numerous brews, there will be authentic German food and

several local vendor booths. Also featured will be a variety of music

throughout the day. Music acts include the Cruz-Conteras String Band, the

Jeff Barbara/ Sarah Pirkle Bluegrass Band, Left Foot Down and a German

Oompah Band.
