MEMPHIS (AP) - A teenage boy shot two weeks ago while riding his bicycle at a city intersection died Sunday, police said.
Brandon Bates, 15, was shot in the head while Travis Boyd, 16, was shot in the shoulder during the incident. Boyd was treated and released.
The shooting occurred at about 10 p.m. June 22 after two women began fighting, drawing a crowd. Someone in the gathering fired a pistol, possibly to help break up the fight, homicide Lt. Walter Norris said.
Several men then began shooting into the air and crowd, and Bates was hit while riding his bike in the parking lot of a nearby church.
Police do not know if the victims were shot intentionally.
Prosecutors have not decided if they will file charges in the case.
