At this week's Tennessee-Georgia game, fans have the chance to make a difference on and off the field.
While entering the game, fans are being ask to donate $5 to Second Harvest in exchange for an orange and white "Power Towel." The donations are part of the 12th Annual Tim Kerin Memorial Food Drive and will go directly to providing food to thousands of needy East Tennesseans. One donation of $5 is enough money for the food bank to provide meals for 18 people.
Tim Kerin came to UT in 1976 as the Head Athletic Trainer. He was the winner of Trainer of the Year by the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society in 1992 and was also elected to the National Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame. He received this honor following his death in 1992.
"Tim genuinely cared about people, their plight and their families," said Glenn Streno, a former UT player and All-SEC center. "His compassion toward his fellow man was evident. Tim worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him."
