Adidas Partners in Sports' first conference, "Current Challenges and Changes in the World of Sports," will address those issues in sports today in the Wolf-Kaplan Hospitality Center in Neyland Stadium.
"This is the first conference hosted by Partners in Sports, which is (UT's) sports management professional majors' organization and fundraising group," Buck Jones, program director for Partners in Sports, said.
The conference will feature guest speakers such as: David Falk, Michael Jordan's agent; Rob Gallas, the senior vice president of marketing and broadcast for the Chicago White Sox; John La Sage, chairman of Chicago/Midwest Burson-Marsteller; and Gordon Whitener, CEO of Host Communication.
The conference will include breakfast, speakers, lunch and a round table discussion, which allows participants to ask questions of the presenters.
According to Jones, 125 people have already registered for the event, two-thirds students and one-third sports professionals who come from both UT and the community.
The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Directions to the Wolf-Kaplan Hospitality Center may be found outside of Neyland Stadium at Gate 21. Registration for the event is $20 for students, $50 for staff and faculty, and $95 for business professionals. The registration fee covers the breakfast and lunch. Proceeds will go towards the Partners in Sports Scholarship Fund.
