The UT Board of Trustees approved new and open procedures for selecting the next University of Tennessee President on Sept. 17.
The Presidential Search Advisory Council and the Presidential Search Committee are soliciting nominations and self-nominations for both committees.
"The Search Advisory Council will serve as the first tier of the process, and will develop the position criteria, actively promote the position and will make the initial screening of the candidates. The Search Committee will determine the finalists from a short pool submitted by the Search Advisory Council," a press release stated.
The university's Faculty Senate will select one of the members of the Search Advisory Council and will propose nominees for the two seats on the Search Committee, in a uniform process adopted in conjunction with the other UT campus Faculty Senates.
Nominees are being asked to submit a one-page statement of interest and qualifications and a 2-page vita. Nominees should indicate their interest in being considered for the Search Advisory Council, the Search Committee or both.
Nominations are due by 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in an electronic form, to the UT Knoxville Faculty Senate President Beauvais Lyons (email@example.com).
Statements by nominees will be posted on the Faculty Senate Web site as they are received. Final selection of nominees will be made by a process to be determined by the UT Knoxville Faculty Senate.
