Jerry W. Askew is former president and CEO of the East Tennessee Foundation, a public charity based in Knoxville serving 24 counties in the eastern part of the state, holding assets exceeding $60 million.
Askew's career in Knoxville began in 1985 when he was appointed dean of students at The University of Tennessee.
He went on to serve as associate vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs while holding teaching positions in the College of Education and University Honors Department.
Askew received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar; his M.S. from Memphis State University and his Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Currently, Askew serves as senior vice president for advancement and community development at the St. Mary's Health System, a regional health provider based in Knoxville. In this capacity, he is primarily responsible for supervising the system's two foundations and its community outreach and philanthropic initiatives.
Askew's wife Robyn, a native Tennessean, is a commercial real estate developer and graduate of The University of Tennessee College of Law. The Askews have two children - son Taylor, 15, and daughter Avery, 11.
