The All Campus Events Committee is seeking new members to aid in organizing events such as Carnicus and Volunteer Challenge, according to Christina Brannon, 2004-2005 ACE directors' chair.
With the membership slogan "Make It a Full Deck," Brannon said the organization is looking for students who are not only responsible but have a wide variety of interests.
"ACE is looking for a diverse group of individuals who possess leadership skills and a desire to work hard," Brannon said. "We are seeking students who are willing to make a commitment to this organization."
The committee is a member of the Central Program Committee, and in addition to coordinating Canicus and Volunteer Challenge, organizes Homecoming and All-Sing.
Brannon said the organization's role in coordinating Homecoming provides great perks for committee members.
"The perks of ACE are definitely visible during Homecoming when our committee has the opportunity to coordinate the Homecoming parade and pep rally, hang the participating organization's banners from Neyland stadium and sit close to the action during the Homecoming football game," she said.
Hard work also makes participation in ACE a successful venture, Brannon said.
"A lot of planning goes into each event we sponsor, and it takes the effort of the whole committee to make these traditions a success," she said.
Brannon said participation in ACE helps to build skills helpful to a college student.
"It is a good way to gain leadership and organizational skills in working with the student and faculty to program campus-wide events," Brannon said.
Neely Butler, current ACE directors' chair, said her participation in ACE has impacted her UT experience.
"All Campus Events Committee has shaped my college experience through the friendships, leadership opportunities, and the ability to carry on traditions of UT," Butler said.
Students wishing to apply can pick up an application at Room 305 of the University Center or download it from the group's Web site, Applications must be received by Friday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
After completing an application, 65 applicants will be notified to interview for open positions. From these interviews, 10 to 15 applicants will be selected, Brannon said.
Butler said the students should apply because participation on the committee combines dedication with fun to make UT traditions a success.
"The ACE Committee works hard to organize and produce each of these events, but don't think for a moment that we don't have fun all along the way," Butler said.
