A University of Tennessee student was transported to UT Medical Center Wednesday after he crashed his bicycle into a moving vehicle and flipped over his handlebars onto the pavement, the UT Police Department reported.
At about 3:20 p.m., Thomas J. Bensko, undecided junior, was riding his bicycle westbound on Andy Holt Avenue near the Apartment Residence Hall when he struck freshman Sheena Swagerty's Honda Accord, witnesses told the UTPD. Bensko hit Swagerty's rear fender on the passenger side, causing him to fly over the handlebars of his bicycle onto the sidewalk, according to the report.
UT Medical Center told a UTPD officer at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday that Bensko was in stable condition, and on Thursday said he had been discharged.
