The 13th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vol women's swimming and diving team
captured the four-team Princeton Invitational this past weekend.
The Lady Vols scored 1,279 points to outdistance second-place Princeton's
906 points. UT's contingent set three school records and tied one, while
breaking 11 Princeton Pool records during the three-day event.
Junior All-American Leslie Mix broke her old school marks in the 500-yard
and 1,650-yard freestyle events with times of 4:43.00 and 16:13.40,
respectively. Mix's record-setting times were fast enough to earn automatic
NCAA Championship qualifications.
All-American diver Tracy Bonner broke her old 3-meter springboard mark with
a 508.10 over 11 dives. In the 100-yard freestyle, junior All American
Nicole deMan tied former Lady Vol Jenny McGrath's time of 50.20. deMan also
automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 50-yard freestyle
event with a time of 22.91.
Tennessee will be away from competition until Jan. 3 when it travels to
Gainesville, Fla., to compete against No. 3 Florida.
