The rich just got richer.
The Tennessee Lady Vols have snagged 6-2 guard/forward, Chamique Holdsclaw,
considered by most to be the nation's top prospect, from Queens, N.Y.
Holdsclaw will be the 100th player to wear the orange and white uniform for
head coach Pat Summitt at Tennessee.
"Our staff is thrilled to have a player of Chamique's caliber," Summitt
said. "At 6-2, she'll be a versatile inside/outside player and a dominant
force at both ends of the floor. She is the kind of player who comes along
once in a decade."
In three years, she led Christ the King High School to three state and one
national title with an overall record of 83-3. Named to virtually
everyone's All-America team, Holdsclaw scored over 1,000 career points and
averaged 26 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks, four steals and three assists
per game as a senior.
She plans to major in finance at UT and picked the Lady Vols over Virginia,
Penn State and Connecticut.
