The Lady Vols tennis team improved its mark to 6-0 on the season with a 6-3

victory over No. 13 Notre Dame on Saturday at the UT Varsity Courts. The

win improves the Lady Vols to 13-3 overall (4-2 SEC) while the Fighting

Irish fell to 11-6 overall.

"The team just keeps surprising me as they keep winning," said Tennessee

co-head coach Mike Patrick. "On paper our kids aren't as highly regarded as

others, but they are playing hard and continue to fight. They want to win

so bad, they are doing a super job."

In singles, senior Emily Woodside extended her singles winning streak to 12

matches after posting a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles Becky Varnum.

Freshman Alison Ojeda recorded her team-best 20th win of the year with a

6-1, 6-3 victory over Jennifer Hall at the No. 2 position.

Freshman Meiling Parks battled back after losing the first set to defeat

Kim Guy at No. 6 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Junior Candy Reid came away with

UT's other singles victory as she netted a 6-3, 6-2 decision versus Kelly

Zalinski at No. 5.

The duo of Parks and Woodside posted its 10th win of the spring with an 8-4

victory over Lindsey Green and Zalinski at No. 3 doubles. The tandem of

Reid and Ojeda extended their record to 11-3 in the dual season with an 8-5

victory over Varnum and Marissa Velasco at No. 3 doubles.
