The University of Tennessee women's cross country team finished in ninth

place at the 1999 SEC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30. Vanderbilt hosted

the 5K race at the Vaughan's Creek Course at Percy Warner Park in

Nashville, Tenn.

Arkansas took first place, scoring a perfect 15 points in the team victory,

with senior Amy Yoder winning her third consecutive SEC Cross Country

Championship, crossing the line at 16:54.

UT's top runner was senior Mindy Watkins, who finished in 30th place with a

time of 19:08. Amy Bartosik followed in 34th place with a time of 19:51 and

Angie Pothier took 35th place with a 19:17 clip. Meghan Mantlo finished in

43rd place (19:32) and Christy Baird crossed with a time of 19:44 in 49th

place.

Rebecca Collins finished in 73rd place (21:11) and Amy Ayub turned in a

clocking of 21:23 for 75th place.

"I was proud of our athletes performances', but nagging injuries throughout

the season probably caused us to finish a little lower than we had

hoped."

Next up, the Lady Vols will prepare for the NCAA South Regional to be held

in Auburn Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 13.
