On their final road swing of the regular season, the Tennessee Lady Vol

tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over No. 75 Auburn on Friday in Auburn,

Ala.

The match was the first of two weekend matches for Tennessee. With the win,

Tennessee raises its record to 15-10 on the campaign and a 6-4 mark in the

SEC, while the Tigers fall to 6-15 overall and 1-9 in the conference.

Freshman Vilmarie Castellvi led the Lady Vol attack as she netted a

three-set triumph, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, over Simone Jardim at No. 3 singles.

Extending her winning streak to 12 straight matches was freshman Crystal

Cleveland who netted a 6-0, 6-0 victory versus Summa Edwards at the sixth

hole.

With the decision, Cleveland is now 8-1 in conference contests this season.

Sophomore Alison Ojeda garnered her second consecutive win over a ranked

opponent as she dispatched of 77th-rated Andrea Piski, 7-5, 6-3, at the top

singles slot.

Also posting victories for Tennessee were sophomore Agnes Wiski and senior

Candy Reid with 6-4, 6-1, and 6-3, 6-1, decisions, respectively, at the

second and fifth singles positions over Katia Illarionova and Carolina

Maurer.

In doubles, the only match contested was at No. 3 where the Lady Vol tandem

of Cleveland and sophomore Meiling Parks netted an 8-3 triumph over Edwards

and Maurer.

The Lady Vols will next be in action on Sunday when the squad closes out

the regular season with a match versus 20th-ranked South Carolina starting

at 1 p.m.
