The Lady Vol tennis team entered its match with ninth-ranked Florida on
Sunday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center sporting an unblemished 9-0 mark at
home this season. On this day though, UT would come up short as the Gators
netted a 5-0 decision over Tennessee. With the loss, Tennessee dropped to
13-9 overall and 4-3 in the SEC while the Gators improve to 15-1 on the
season and a perfect 9-0 in the SEC.
The Lady Vols got spirited efforts from sophomore Meiling Parks and Agnes
Wiski, who each took their perspective contests to the deciding third sets.
After dropping the first stanza 0-6 to No. 30 Jessica Lehnhoff at the
second singles position, Wiski took the second frame, 6-4. In the final
set, Lehnhoff wore down Wiski as she netted a 6-2 decision. At the No. 4
position, Parks took the first set of her match with No. 43 Baili Camino,
6-2. before falling in the final two frames, 0-6 and 2-6. The doubles
matches were not contested.
The Lady Vols will next be in action on Friday as the squad travels to
Oxford, Miss. to face Ole Miss at 2 p.m.
