The University of Tennessee 2000 football recruiting class reported to

campus Sunday, Aug. 6 and underwent orientation Monday before beginning

their first two-a-day workout Tuesday. Upperclassmen will report

Wednesday.

The entire squad begins two-a-day practices Friday, Aug. 11. The team's

first session in pads is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 15. Fall semester classes

begin Wednesday, Aug. 23. Saturday, Sept. 2, the Vols will play host to the

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles as they open the 2000 campaign. The

contest will be televised by ESPN at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Head coach Phillip Fulmer has also announced that Shyrone Carey, a 5-9,

170-pound back from Archbishop Shaw in Bridge City, La., and Mondre

Dickerson, 6-6, 265-pound lineman from Melrose High School in Memphis, did

not report Sunday and will not be attending the University of Tennessee

this fall.
