The University of Tennessee Lady Vol rowing team continued its spring

season on Saturday at the Clemson Invitational on Lake Hartwell in Clemson,

S.C.

The varsity and novice teams competed against Clemson, Northeastern and

Duke and came away with several strong performances, including a

second-place finish from the third varsity 8+ shell.

Tennessee opened the day with a third-place finish in the Second Varsity 8+

race, clocking a time of 7:07. Host Clemson won the contest with a time of

6:50, followed by Northeastern at 6:56.1, while Duke took fourth with a

time of 7:10. The Tigers also won the third varsity race, but UT picked up

for second place. Captained by Tina Mazzolini, the crew recorded a time of

7:17.

For the novice boats, Tennessee grabbed the silver in the Second Novice

race with a time of 7:46.8. UT was narrowly edged out in the race by

Clemson, as the Tigers clocked a 7:42.1. In the novice 8+ competition, the

Lady Vols finished in third place.

In the final race of the day, the varsity 8+, Tennessee claimed third

place, recording a time of 6:51.3, the fastest this spring. The race was

won by 12th-ranked Northeastern with a time of 6:40.4, followed by Clemson

at 6:44.7.
