The University of Tennessee men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate golf tournament. The Vols carded a 292-291-313--896, which tied them with Arizona State.
Senior Andy Brimer led the Vols with scores of 72-75-72--219. Following Brimer was sophomore Andrew Pratt. Pratt carded scores of 73-72-76--221. Sophomore Simon Fitton was close behind Pratt with a scorecard of 72-72-78--222.
The host school, Georgia Tech, won the team competition with scores of 286-280-304-870. Clemson finished a close second to the Yellow Jackets with scores of 283-287-301-871.
Kyle Thompson of South Carolina won the individual title after firing scores of 69-69-70--208. Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder (211), Georgia's Nick Cassini (212) and Michael Webb (215) of Augusta State round out the top individuals.
The Vols will next be in action Oct. 16-17 at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate golf tournament in Orlando, Fla.
