The University of Tennessee men's golf team was in fifth place after the second day of play at the 2001 SEC Championships. The Vols had a two-round scorecard of 289-292 581.
Junior Jason Powell and sophomore Andrew Pratt led the Vols with scores of 145 to tie them for 16th. Senior Andy Brimer (146) was next at 21st. Sophomore Ian Parnaby and freshman Brandon Skeen were tied at 37th with scores of 150.
Georgia continued to lead after the second day. The Bulldogs had a 559 (one under par) after two rounds. Florida (571), Auburn (574), Alabama (580) and Tennessee (581) rounded out the top five.
Bryant Odom of Georgia led the individual portion of the tournament with a 67-70 137 (three under par). Trailing not far behind were Camilo Villegas (139) of Florida, Andrew Medley (140) of Ole Miss and Ernie Rose (140) of South Carolina.
The Vols continued play on Sunday with the final round of the tournament. Results were not available at press time.
