After a scrimmage last Friday and two-hour workout the following morning, Georgia head coach Mark Richt is finally getting comfortable with his 'Dawgs.
And better yet for UGA's second-year head coach, he can say something his rival Phillip Fulmer of Tennessee can't say - no one wearing the red and black was injured.
Freshman running back Tyson Browning and senior offensive lineman Kareem Marshall were held out of the scrimmage but returned to the line-up Monday.
UGA plays host to Clemson Saturday for a nationally televised game on ESPN. Kickoff is slated for 7:45 p.m.
After spending two hours signing autographs and greeting fans, the Arkansas football team scrimmaged in front of the estimated 12,000 fans last Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark.
Razorback quarterbacks Matt Jones and Tarvaris Jackson each threw touchdown passes and Dedrick Poole, Brandon Holmes and Mark Pierce each had scoring runs.
Jones, who seems to be the front-runner for the starting job, went 3-for-6 for 57 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown to Richard Smith.
In what has become one of the SEC's most intriguing stories, Jackson and Ryan Sorohan continued to keep pace with Jones by combining to go 17-of-26 for 118 yards. Nutt still hasn't named a clear leader, and he hasn't ruled out rotating the signal callers again this season.
"Overall, I was pleased with the workout," Nutt said. "We held them back a little because we didn't want any injuries. We'll take Sunday and Monday off and then begin working on (season opener) Boise State Tuesday."
Mississippi State's football followers came out in usual decor for their 2002 Fan Day in Starkville, Miss. Saturday.
About 4,000 cowbell-cladded fans came out for three hours while MSU head coach Jackie Sherrill introduced them to the Bulldogs at a jam-packed Humphrey Coliseum.
Officials in the MSU athletic department also recorded the sound of the clanging bells on audio tape for games during the year.
State took the relaxing day off to rest before a tough opener at Oregon this Saturday in Eugene. The game will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
