The University of Tennessee Lady Vol volleyball squad was selected second in the Southeastern Conference preseason coaches' poll released Monday. The Lady Vols were the only team other than Florida to receive championship votes, garnering two votes to the defending national runner-up's nine.
In the division poll, UT grabbed 49 votes and two first-place votes, to place second behind the Gators' 49 and nine, respectively.
Tennessee returns all six starters and 11 of 13 letterwinners from a squad that went 22-9 in 2003, its best record in 20 seasons.
The Gators advanced to the national championship match in 2003 before falling to USC, 3-1. UF carries an NCAA-record 130-match SEC winning streak into the season.
The Lady Vols begin their season against Villanova on Sept. 3 in Los Angeles. UT 's home opener is Sept. 10 versus Wake Forest.
