Justin Albrecht has decided to forgo his final season of basketball eligibility, University of Tennessee coach Buzz Peterson announced Wednesday.
The Omaha, Neb., native averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds over the course of 28 games in his two-year career at UT. Before joining the Volunteers, Albrecht played two seasons at Western Iowa Community College.
In his first season at Tennessee, the 6-foot-6 forward was limited to just two games while battling a foot injury.
Last year, Albrecht scored 46 point in 26 games and also started in two contests. He was awarded the Team Before Self Award as the best team player.
Peterson said Albrecht just needed a break from basketball, but the 22-year-old does intend to finish his school work and graduate.
