A tough preseason tournament highlights The University of Tennessee's men's basketball schedule, which was released Tuesday.
The Volunteers will begin the regular season Nov. 22 at the Maui Invitational in Hawaii, where they face Stanford in the opening game. Other teams in the tournament include perennial powers North Carolina, Texas and Louisville.
Tennessee's first home game is Nov. 29 against Wofford. A featured non-conference game comes on Dec. 11 when the Vols host Atlantic 10 champion Xavier.
Coach Buzz Peterson's Vols face the usual tough SEC slate with the first home game coming against Sweet 16 participant Vanderbilt on Jan. 8. Tennessee's only mid-season venture out of the SEC comes Jan. 22 when the Vols travel to Louisville.
The Vols return four starters and nine players overall from their 15=14 team in 2003-04.
