Lady Volunteer All-American Keely Dowling helped the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team continue its six-year dominance of the world at their age level. The Americans shut out their fourth straight opponent with a 3-0 win over Sweden for the championship of the 14th annual Nordic Cup.
Dowling, a rising senior at the University of Tennessee, notched an assist on the opening goal of the contest. The Carmel, Ind., was part of a stingy defense during the U.S. team's sixth straight championship run in the world's top competition for under-21 women held in Iceland.
No other country has won more than two Nordic Cups in a row (Sweden did it twice).
Dowling has now taken home gold medals with both the under-21 and under-19 American squads.
