Tennessee completed a weekend sweep of the New Mexico State Kick-Off Invitational on Sunday afternoon with a 7-1 triumph over the host Aggies.
By securing its eighth victory in a row and finishing 5-0 at the event, the 18th-ranked Lady Vols (11-1) have matched their longest winning streak in three years. Over its five outings in New Mexico, UT out-scored its opponents, 49-7.
Senior Amber Rhinehart collected the MVP accolade after a performance with an .846 (11-for-13) batting average, 2.000 slugging percentage, 16 runs batted in, five runs, four homers and three doubles. It was the best showing at the plate by a Lady Vol at any tournament in the nine-year existence of the program.
