NBA free-agent Kobe Bryant talked with executives from the Denver Nuggets Monday about a possible departure from the Los Angeles Lakers. If he moves to Colorado, he will be in the same state of his ongoing sexual assault case.
The head of the Sport Business Group marketing firm, David Carter, told ESPN that Nuggets officials likely have already considered the possible repercussions with fans and sponsors if they sign Bryant.
Bryant said he wants to test the free-agent market before his trial begins Aug. 27. He also met the Los Angeles Clippers, who play in the same arena as the Lakers.
Bryant pleaded not guilty to felony sexual assault on a teenage employee of the Vail-area resort where he stayed last summer.
If convicted, he faces four years to life in prison or 20 years to life on probation.
