Vol netters down Bullies
Tennessee's No. 27-ranked men's tennis team defeated No. 29-ranked Mississippi State 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
Using a strong singles attack, Tennessee (9-4, 2-2 SEC) notched its second SEC road victory of the season and equaled its win total from a year ago.
After competing elsewhere for more than a month, Tennessee returns home to play host to a pair of SEC foes this weekend.
The Vols battle South Carolina (11-6, 0-4 SEC) in a rare night match at UT's Varsity Courts Friday at 5 p.m., and Florida (10-3, 3-1 SEC) visits Knoxville for a 1 p.m. dual match Sunday.
Lady Vols roll at home
The 29th-ranked UT women's tennis team concluded its home season on a strong note, defeating Mississippi State by a score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the UT Varsity Courts.
With the win, the Lady Vols improve to 11-9 overall and 5-1 in the Southeastern Conference, while MSU falls to 5-9 overall, 0-6 in the SEC.
Up next, UT will have to hit the road for its five remaining SEC matches. During the first of those trips, Tennessee will take on No. 30 South Carolina on Fri., March 26 and No. 3 Florida on Sun., March 28.
