UT track and field rising senior Phoebe Wright competed at the Kortrijk Guldensporen meeting in Kortrijk, Belgium, on Saturday, finishing third in the 800 meter event. Wright’s time of 2:04.49 was not enough to earn a bid for the “A” qualifying standard to the IAAF World Track & Field Championships later this summer.
Wright crossed the finish line behind Alysia Johnson of the U.S. (2:02.35) and Neisha Bernard-Thomas of Grenada (2:03.38). Newly-named UT Director of Track & Field J.J. Clark said he will try to place Wright in another race for a chance to qualify for the IAAF Championships.
Graduating senior Sarah Bowman also competed in Kortrijk, finishing second in the mile in 4:11.68.
